Inner Mongolia Xiyuan Rare Earth Functional Materials Engineering and Technology Research Centre ( Xiyuan Centre for short) undertakes the state key task research projects, "863" projects, and local and companies' projects.
On the part of rare earth functional materials, large diameter lanthanum chromate heating elements has reached industrialization and commercial production. Some engineering design problems has been solved.
The performance of rare earth super magnetostrictive materials takes the leading standard, and currently the preparation process of low cost magnetostrictive materials is the research trend. The centre has completed the pilot production line of rare earth magnetostrictive materials.
In rare earth magnetic refrigerating technology, the centre has developed magnetocaloric effect direct measuring apparatus and gained two patents. Now they are taking on the research on the key technique difficulty, that is, the preparation of magnetic liquid.
Since its establishment, the centre has undertaken 43 national and local projects and gained 17 Science and Technology Advance Awards, 17 patents and drawn two National Standards, is certificated as the Inner Mongolia New & High-tech Enterprises.
